Howdy Bob Glover,
I hear you are no longer in the Norfolk area. On the St. Louis Express, we are there every 5 weeks. Sorry I never got intouch! Only in port for 6-8 hours. Where are you now and what are you up to?
Regards,
Jon Lincoln
Bob,
The thanks go all around but especially to Peter. That boy got vision!!! He really started an amazing project. I’m sure that Cap is very proud of the three of us. Each one of us has achieved significant accomplishments in the maritime community. You especially have made the industry better for all of the sail training you gave, all of your work with Vision Quest, and building my state’s tall ship! And you continue with your efforts in training professional mariners. I’m proud as hell to be associated with both of you guys.
Best,
Jamie
I'm still here in Silver Spring and head down to Pascagoula on Monday. Our Chief quit on the BIGELOW and there is a good chance that I will be sailing aboard. I'll let you know if I get up there.
Will do. I'll write a draft, and run it by our Master just to make sure it is OK. It was quick. The whole event wrapped up in less than 3 hours. We were cooling the space within 35 minutes, which is a testament to the number of SCBA packs that we deployed, and our confidence in the gas anylizer and smart management of the HVCA ducts dampers etc. Congrats on your Project with Mr. Mello! I'm going to finish this AGT track, and then go sailing with you guys back in Aux Sail. I'm a rare cat now: a low tonnage Aux Sail master with a Tankerman's PIC endorsement! Soon i'll knock GMDSS out of the way. Best Wishes, Matt
Hey Dirt Ball,
Did you read my blog on the main page? I posted the article that I wrote a few years ago of Cap as a mentor.
I have a challenge for you: turn out more captains from you small school than KP per year. It's not a hard challenge and I know you can do it.
Jamie
Bob,
The KP Wall of Shame is something else. Hell, they have about 250 kids in each class where I had 150. Yet, there were NO chief engineers from the class of '84 and I know that my class of '84 from MMA had at least a hand full. Not bad for a little back wood academy, eh? Cap must be rolling in his grave!
Jamie
Good Luck with that! I had a pretty major fire two night ago in a space that contained our # 5 Diesel Generator. We dumped Haylon, and although everything in the compartment was distroyed, we are still here to talk about it!!! Not bad for an Ammo ship Eh? The training and equipment that we used worked almost perfectly. We used the nifty and gas analyzer, and had to refill about 50 SCBA bottles the next day. I'm not sure if a Commercial ship would have survived so well. Thank God for all of this MSC US Gov safety equip. That Module space is about 40 by 20 by 20 and it is just totally cooked. Matt

Happy New Year Bob: I'm enjoying some quiet dockside time here in earle NJ after completing my 2nd deployment to the Middle East. I have just beat this workstation to death and have succeeded in fixing my password headaches. Best Wishes, Matt
