Favorite Tabor Boy moment
I was walking down the pier in Nantucket in the early '80s (having not been back since graduating perhaps 15 years before) with my recent bride at my side. I was trying to explain why that vessel was so important to me when Cap bellowed from aboard Tabor Boy, "God Damn it Whitehead, I told you NEVER to walk on the dock in bare feet." My wife somehow got it in that moment in a way I never could have explained by telling dubious sea stories.

George,
Please excuse my feeble memory but I know that we have met. Did you sail your boat to Castine while I was at Maine Maritime Academy? Otherwise, it must have been aboard the schooner. Regardless, I’m glad that you have joined this terrific project that Peter started. I have had so much fun reading about other crew member’s memories and sharing pictures. Man, the TABOR BOY is such an amazing program. It sure did change my life!
Best regards,
Jamie
