Hi Holly, I just signed back onto the website after many years,  I'm wondering how you are and what you're doing, I understand you went to Stanford University in California, I think I told you that was my grandfathers alma mater.

I wonder if you ever Got the note of sympathy I sent you about the very tragic loss of your wonderful brother. I never realized it but in one of my early Morning half dreams as I'm waking up, I realized that It actually may have been him who greeted me coming aboard in I believe it was Annapolis for the hundredth anniversary. I think that's when I first met you as the XO.

Is my memory serving me well?

One of the things I did say to you Was that the experience of being an XO and crew member of the Tabor boy Is that your life would be changed forever, and you will find that people will naturally and normally look to you for leadership. I wonder what field of leadership are you are living in now?

Bro Russell, you also met my wife Hemamalie.     class of 62

Holly,

Congratulations on becoming the first woman XO of Tabor Boy.  I read your description of your favorite moment -- standing on the spreaders, etc. -- and I wanted to express my appreciation for that moment.  It goes far beyond standing bow watch and appreciating the beauty of sailing on Tabor Boy.

On the spreaders, high up the mast, you are at one with the waves, the wind, the ship, and the crew.  THAT is what makes a great Executive Officer.  May you be the best ever.

Here's another woman I respect and admire very much, the first woman space shuttle commander: Colonel Eileen Collins.  Eileen Collins

You have earned everyone's respect.  That is what Colonel Collins did too.  Even more, you know what it takes to earn and keep a trusted position.  Build on that and you can go anywhere you want to go!

Holly,

Congratulations on being elected as the new XO! Also, how wonderful that the schooner is heading up to Nova Scotia. I wish the timing was a bit different. I'll be racing to Halifax in July.

I regret that my calendar is two blocked this month and that I won't be able to attend my reunion. It would have been nice to meet you but I'm sure that I will be on campus later this year. Please let me or any of the other TB alumni know if we can support you in any way. You will find two very faithful local supporters of the program in Capt Robert Glover and Peter Mello. They should be at the reunion and they are two of my very best friends.

All A Taut o,

Jamie '79

Holly,

Welcome aboard the site! It's great to have current crew members involved with this project. I love reading the posts as it helps me relive my years aboard the schooner. Please pass the word on to you shipmates and have them join.

Again welcome!
