Favorite Tabor Boy moment
Just wrote this for an english essay:

Early June of last year, we were sailing on to the mooring, and I was preparing to jump. The Schooner was full to the brim with Admirals; those alumni who had graduated fifty years ago or more. We were sailing downwind on a course to intercept, the small boat is pointed into the wind, directly at us. I jump, I land in the small boat and attempt to pass the painter up to Jackson but I am too far below the haas to reach his hand. Mr. Wakeman comes alongside in the launch and attempts to help as I climb the schooner to pass the pennant up. He is trying to help, but in his attempts, he hits my small boat with the launch and sends it to the other side of the Tabor Boy. Meanwhile she is still coming forward under full sail. The only thing left for me to do is to let go. I plunge into the bitter cold, murky depths of Sippican Harbor. The schooner hits my leg as I struggle to skirt the bow and swim aft towards the small boat. I clamber aboard and hurl the pennant to Zane on deck, cast of the small boat from the mooring and dart away from the monstrous iron hull.

Aidan,

Congratulations for being selected as XO! While you have tremendous responsibility for the ship, crew, and academy, have fun and enjoy the ride. It goes by quickly so don't forget to pause from time to time and take it all in so that you have the memory many years later.

Again, congratulations!

Welcome aboard Aidan!

Great sea story but the objective should be to stay inside the boat! ;-)

Thanks for joining! I hope that you will share more stories, photos and videos. It's great to hear what's underway in the sail training program.
